Chemical Peel in Cagliari: Skin Renewal

Radiance, even texture, softened signs of ageing.

The chemical peel is one of the most versatile treatments in aesthetic dermatology. At Centro Eudermia in Cagliari we use various formulations (glycolic, salicylic, TCA, pyruvic) tailored to the skin type and each patient's goals.

    • Superficial, medium and deep peels
    • Treatment of pigmentation, acne, wrinkles, texture
    • Personalised protocols for every skin type
    • No downtime for superficial peels

    How a Chemical Peel Works

Applying an acidic substance to the skin causes a controlled exfoliation of the superficial layers, while simultaneously stimulating the production of new collagen. The result is skin that is smoother, more radiant and more even.

Peels are classified according to depth: superficial (epidermis), medium (epidermis and papillary dermis), deep (reticular dermis — rarely used today).

    The Main Types of Peel

    Glycolic Acid (AHA)

One of the most popular peels. Indicated for mild-to-moderate acne, hyperpigmentation, photoageing and texture improvement. Available from 20% to 70% in medical protocols.

    Salicylic Acid (BHA)

Particularly effective for oily and acne-prone skin. Lipid-soluble, it penetrates the sebum within the pores with a direct comedolytic action.

    Mandelic Acid

A larger molecule, less aggressive. Suitable for sensitive skin, darker skin types and rosacea in selected cases.

    Lactic Acid

A well-tolerated alpha-hydroxy acid with moisturising properties. Suitable for sensitive skin and for a first peel.

    Combination Peels (Jessner)

Combine several active ingredients for synergistic effects. Intermediate depth, effective for acne, photoageing and pigmentation.

    Low-to-Medium Concentration TCA

TCA at 10-30% for moderate photoageing, hyperpigmentation and fine lines. For high-concentration TCA, see the TCA CROSS peeling page.

For the TCA CROSS peeling specific to ice-pick acne scars, see the dedicated TCA CROSS peeling page.

    Indications for a Chemical Peel

    • Active-phase acne (mild-to-moderate) and post-acne hyperpigmentation
    • Skin pigmentation: solar lentigines, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
    • Photoageing: fine lines, irregular texture, loss of radiance
    • Oily skin with enlarged pores

Chemical Peel in Cagliari: How to Prepare

Preparing for a chemical peel at Centro Eudermia is an important step in optimising the result and reducing the risk of adverse reactions. In the 2-4 weeks beforehand, it is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure on the areas to be treated and artificial tanning, which increase the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Stop topical retinoids (tretinoin, high-concentration retinol) and exfoliating acids (glycolic, salicylic) at least 7-10 days before the peel, unless otherwise advised by the specialist.

Come to the session without make-up. If you have a history of recurrent cold sores and the area to be treated includes the upper lip, mention it during the consultation: in that case antiviral prophylaxis is given. The skin must be well hydrated: a good cosmetic routine in the preceding weeks helps the chemical peel work at its best. For medium peels (medium-concentration TCA), a pre-treatment of 2-4 weeks with creams containing hydroquinone or vitamin C may be indicated, to even out the skin tone and reduce the risk of post-treatment hyperpigmentation. All of these recommendations are personalised to your case during the preliminary consultation.

Dr. Guicciardi was very precise and professional. I had mole mapping and afterwards two CO2 laser sessions. Highly recommended.
