    The Eudermia Approach to Acne

A structured journey in 4 steps

Not a standard protocol, but a personalised method that adapts every stage to the type of acne, its severity and the patient's response. From accurate diagnosis to scar treatment, all the way to maintaining results.

    01

    Accurate diagnosis

Clinical assessment of the type of acne (comedonal, papulo-pustular, nodulo-cystic), identification of the contributing causes (hormonal, dietary, cosmetics, stress) and definition of the patient's profile.

    02

    Personalised therapy

A combination of topical and oral therapies based on the severity of the acne. For the more severe forms, isotretinoin under strict dermatological supervision with monitoring of blood tests.

    03

    Scar treatment

Once the active acne is under control, the residual scars are treated with dedicated technologies: TCA CROSS for ice-pick scars, fractional laser for irregular texture, chemical peels for post-inflammatory marks.

    04

    Maintenance and follow-up

Personalised daily skincare, periodic check-ups to prevent recurrences and manage any new inflammatory phases. Acne requires constant attention, even after it has cleared.

    Your Individual Acne Therapy

Acne (Acne vulgaris): between 70% and 95% of men and women experience acne during puberty — and, increasingly in recent years, in adulthood too. One key factor is the increased production of androgens, which is why men are more prone to severe acne — though both sexes are affected overall.

The most important factors in acne are the overproduction of sebum, the build-up of dead skin cells that blocks the pores, and the bacterial colonisation of the skin. Not only internal factors can influence acne, but also external ones such as smoking, oily or comedogenic skincare products, hormonal preparations and certain medications. Acne doesn't only affect the face — it can also appear on the shoulders, back and chest. Many people feel uncomfortable with their skin. This does not have to be the case, since acne is usually a treatable condition.

    Acne therapy

Therapy depends on the form and severity of the acne. With mild forms of acne, a better skin appearance can already be achieved with a few suitable skincare products. If this measure is not enough, topical therapy is used, with keratolytics and antibiotic or anti-inflammatory agents. In cases of severe acne, where topical therapy is not sufficient and scars may also develop, oral treatment is prescribed — an antibiotic or isotretinoin (a vitamin A derivative).

The medical team at Centro Eudermia will be glad to discuss the various treatment options with you and to support you throughout a therapy that will necessarily be personalised.

Specialist consultations are always by appointment.

    Clinical Presentation

    Recognising acne on the body

Acne does not appear only on the face: the chest, back and shoulders are frequently affected areas, especially in teenage forms and in some adult forms of hormonal acne.

Assessing all the affected areas is the starting point for building a personalised treatment plan — topical, systemic or combined.

    Types of Acne We Treat

    Teenage Acne

Teenage acne is the most common form and typically appears between the ages of 12 and 18, coinciding with the hormonal changes of puberty. The most frequent clinical forms include comedonal acne (blackheads and whiteheads) and papulo-pustular acne. Early treatment is essential to prevent the formation of permanent scars.

    Adult and Late-Onset Acne

Adult acne particularly affects women after the age of 25 and often has a hormonal component (polycystic ovary syndrome, menstrual cycle irregularities, contraception). In recent years there has been an increase in cases of mask-related acne (maskne).

    Severe Acne

The severe forms — nodulo-cystic, conglobata, fulminans — require specific treatments, often systemic, and careful monitoring. Oral isotretinoin is the most effective treatment for resistant nodulo-cystic forms, and must be prescribed and monitored by an experienced specialist.

    Post-Acne Scars and Hyperpigmentation

Even after the active lesions have healed, acne can leave consequences: atrophic scars (ice pick, rolling, boxcar), hypertrophic or keloid scars, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Centro Eudermia offers specific treatments, in particular with the fractional CO2 laser.

I took my daughter to Dr. Guicciardi on a friend's recommendation. My teenage daughter had had acne for about 2 years; we tried many treatments with other dermatologists but nothing worked — in fact it kept getting worse, not only on her face but also her shoulders, back and arms…
